Edmonton

This busy western provincial capital is located near the centre of the province of Alberta and is Canada's fifth largest city. Edmonton offers a wide variety of places to go and activities to enjoy at any time of the year.
Edmonton originated as a fur trading post and is rich in its native history. Today it is a staging point for large-scale oilsands projects occurring in northern Alberta and large-scale diamond mining operations in the Northwest Territories. With lots of blue sky and sunshine throughout the seasons, take advantage of many outdoor activities in the city in addition to all those that will keep you busy indoors.
Visit world class galleries and museums, or dine at one of over 1,600 restaurants throughout this large city. Explore downtown Edmonton, the classic sandstone Alberta legislative building, the University of Alberta. Don’t forget to visit the prominent neighborhoods of historic Glenora and Old Strathcona, with its street performers, vendors and show posters.
Spend a few days exploring one of Edmonton’s main tourist attractions, the West Edmonton Mall.  The West Edmonton Mall is located in the heart of Edmonton and is the world’s largest entertainment and shopping centre.  It has over 800 stores, 100 restaurants, and nine world class attractions, including the World Water Park, the Ice Palace and the Sea Lions’ Rock. Also located at the mall is the Fantasyland Hotel. 
 Make sure to explore Fort Edmonton Park, Canada’s largest historical park and take part in any of Edmonton’s 30 annual festivals, celebrating music, food, culture, sports, theatre and more! Edmonton is also home to Elk National Park of Canada.  Here you can view its inhabitants (bison, moose, elk, and deer), hike, cross-country ski, picnic, or go over-night camping.
