Calgary Stampede Rodeo

"The Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth".
For ten exhilarating days every July, the Old West comes alive with a city wide celebration of true western hospitality and rousing fun! From the world famous, ground shaking, Chuckwagon Races to the richest eight seconds in Rodeo to the spectacular evening Grandshow extravaganza, the Calgary Stampede offers a non-stop action that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. The high steppin’ two hour parade kicks off to the streets with a burst of energy, colour and music.

The top professional cowboys compete in a myriad of rodeo events, including bull riding, roping, bareback riding, steer wrestling and barrel racing. Ditch your city slicker look and grab your western duds, and join in on pancake breakfasts, square dancing, the hair-raising rush of the midway, authentic Indian Village, re-created frontier town, gambling hall and dazzling fireworks. If you thought the Wild West had been tamed… you’re only half right.

Calgary Stampede, Native Parade

Year round attractions at the Calgary Stampede include the Stampede Casino, Thoroughbred and Harness Racing, Historical Murals, the Grain Academy, the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Stampede Mercantile Store.

Ticket holders are then escorted from Fluor Rope Square at 9:30 AM to the departure point on 9th Avenue and 1st Street SW (EnCana Place across from the Palliser Hotel). The tour leaves at 10:00 AM and takes approximately one hour. Rig passengers are welcome to stay on board all the way to Stampede Park and be dropped off in front of the Park's main north entrance.

Calgary Stampede, Square Dancing
 ACTIVITIES
Fluor Rope Square presents marching bands, dancers, singers, fiddlers, clowns, fun and friendly mascots and an old-fashioned gunfight.

You could be invited to compete in the Smithbilt World Championship Hat Stomping Contest, the Fluor Great Western Flapjack Flip or be sworn in as an Honorary Calgarian. The Stampede Queen and Princesses make daily guest appearances in addition to other visiting dignitaries and celebrity guests.

Be sure to enter the Fluor Daily Prize Draw. Just look for Jake, the giant cowboy, and his gal Jacki welcoming you to the Fluor Rope Square "saddle stage”. You can’t miss him, as he’s 28 feet high! Now that’s one big cowboy!

INDIAN NATIONS (weather permitting)

Witness members of the five surrounding tribes dressed in traditional native outfits as they proudly share their heritage and culture through dance, music and commentary. Come join them in the Friendship Dance.
