This popular 14 night itinerary is based on departing 2nd May 2017 and will give you the opportunity to visit several iconic Canadian destinations as you sit back and relax on your rail journey across Canada.
 
With time to explore the pacific coastal city of Vancouver and cosmopolitan Toronto, sandwiched in between is some of the most stunning scenery in the world. Travel from Vancouver through the Canadian Rockies and visit Banff , Lake Louise and Jasper. Have your camera ready to capture beautiful glacier fed lakes, wildlife and autumn foliage. Leaving the Rockies behind travel from Jasper to Toronto across Canada on VIA Rails Canadian. Other dates are available on request.

Day 1
Vancouver

Upon your arrival into Vancouver, please make your own way to downtown Vancouver and your hotel, where you will stay 3 nights. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore at your own pace. Overnight in Vancouver

Day 2
Vancouver

Full day free to explore this wonderful vibrant city. Why not take the time and check out Grouse Mountain or do something really different and visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge and take in the new breathtaking Capilano Cliffwalk. We can arrange this for you (prices available on request). Overnight Vancouver

Day 3
Vancouver

You are free today to explore the city at leisure. No trip to Vancouver would be complete without a visit to Stanley Park. Situated between English Bay and Burrard Inlet, the peninsula at the north-western edge of down-town Vancouver, Stanley Park covers 1,000 acres. Its seawall, beaches, walking trails, totem poles, aquarium, pool, miniature railway and more attract 8 million visitors each year. Why not hop on one of the horse drawn tours that make its way around the park? Overnight: Vancouver

Day 4
Kamloops

Today, embark on your 2 day Rocky Mountaineer Rail Journey from Vancouver to Banff in SilverLeaf Service. From Pacific Central Station in Vancouver you meander through the lush and fertile lands of British Columbia, from the Fraser Valley where you are left to marvel at the spectacular peaks that make up the Coast Mountains before entering the Fraser Canyon, part of the Fraser Fault. You’ll see the thundering waters of Hell’s Gate, with towering 1000 foot rock walls. With stunning vistas of the Thompson River you will continue on towards the historic city of Kamloops and deeper into Thompson Country, gateway to the Interior of British Columbia. You will enjoy an overnight stop in Kamloops. The train stops and so do you so you won’t miss any scenery whilst sleeping! Overnight Kamloops

Day 5
Banff

The Rocky Mountaineer continues onwards east giving wondrous views of the South Thompson River and pass Craigellachie. Rising up to 1300m at Rogers Pass, a high mountain pass in the Selkirk Mountains, you will be amazed; With seemingly endless tunnels and unbelievable views of the Glaciers nearby, it's one of the highlights of the tour. Banff National Park is one of the latter choices you'll have, you can end your journey here and take in some of the exquisite wildlife parks, reserves and sample the Banff area. A transfer has been arranged to take you to your hotel. Overnight Banff

Day 6
Banff

Today is at leisure for you to make your own exploration of Banff. Outside of town, the dramatic Canadian scenery awaits you. Check out the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, or why not go for a soak in the famous therapeutic spring waters of the Upper Hot Springs? Overnight: Banff

Day 7
Jasper

Travel through Banff and Jasper National Parks on a luxury coach. Journey from Vermilion Lakes to the "Jewel of the Canadian Rockies", Lake Louise. Here you will see the famous Victoria Glacier where the rock flour turns the lake emerald green. Then shadow the Great Divide exploring the natural viewpoints of Crowfoot Glacier and Peyto Lake. Continue alongside the Mistaya River to the Big Hill and the Columbia Icefield. At the Columbia Icefield ride on an all-terrain Ice Explorer and sip on the fresh waters of a glacier. Continue on through the Sunwapta Valley and take a stroll at Athabasca Falls before a late afternoon arrival at Jasper. Overnight: Jasper

Day 8
Jasper

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Jasper. Fascinating in beauty and history, Jasper is set amid some of the most rugged peaks in the Rockies. You may wish to take a tram ride up Whistler's Mountain, soak in the pools at Miette Hot Springs (among the Rockies' warmest natural hot springs) or visit Maligne Lake, one of the most photographed lakes in the world and enjoy a 90-minute cruise heading toward the south end of this postcard setting (suggested activities are not included). Marvel at the magnificent shoreline with dense forest and glacial peaks rising abruptly from the water's edge. Overnight: Jasper

Day 9
Jasper

Jasper to Toronto (Rail) Spend the day relaxing in the mountain town of Jasper. This evening board VIA Rail’s ‘Canadian’ for the famous train journey across the prairies to Toronto. Exclusive to Sleeper Touring Class in an Upper Berth. Visit the Dome Car where you will experience the true essence of travelling by train as a panoramic scene sweeps by (dinner included)

Day 10
Winnipeg

Watch the scenery change as you leave the mountains for the prairies and great plains of Canada. Overnight onboard the train. (breakfast, lunch & dinner is included today)

Day 11
Windsor

Today is spent crossing the scenic lake lands of northern Ontario. Overnight onboard the train. (breakfast, lunch & dinner is included today)

Day 12
Toronto

The train will arrive into Toronto at 9.30am this morning. Please make your own way to your downtown Toronto hotel for your 3 night stay. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore at your own pace. Overnight in Toronto

Day 13
Toronto

Today is free to explore the streets of this dynamic city. Discover the delights of Toronto’s colourful neighbourhoods, take a ride to the top of the CN Tower, experience the lively theater district and indulge in one of the numerous restaurants. Overnight in Toronto

Day 14
Toronto

Today why not take a day trip to Niagra Falls and experience spectacular views of the waterfalls from scenic points along the edge of the gorge, and from the decks of the Hornblower (formerly known as Maid of the Mist) you will experience the thundering columns of water up close! Overnight in Toronto

Day 15
Toronto

Today, please make your own way to Toronto Pearson International Airport, for your overnight flight back to the UK.
