This adventure takes place at the Arctic’s most exclusive fly-in only Ecolodge, Seal River Heritage Lodge.

The Birds, Bears and Belugas safari combines the thrill of swimming with beluga whales with a safari of summer polar bear viewing.  Aside from the belugas and bears, you’ll have the opportunity to see a whole host of other wildlife on this trip - you may see caribou, fox (red and Arctic), wolves, moose and birds galore (such species as ptarmigan, Smith’s Longspur, Ross’ and Bonaparte gulls, jaegers, etc.).

Seal River Heritage Lodge, located 60 kilometres by air from Churchill, Manitoba, will be your home away from home. Known as the Polar Bear and Beluga Whale Capital of the World, this area is also the best place to see large congregations of Beluga whales as thousands of them calve in the protection of the Hudson Bay each summer.

Your adventure begins with a breath-taking aerial view of the winding Hudson Bay coast en-route to your home for the next 6 days - Seal River Heritage Lodge. Be prepared to see huge pods of whales, countless birds, as well as caribou and of course, the magnificent Ice Bears. The Seal River Estuary is a summer favourite for these goliaths and they are regularly seen swimming or basking near the water’s edge. Upon your arrival, your hosts will provide a tour of the Lodge and get you settled into your room. A thorough orientation on travel in polar bear country will be provided prior to any outings. After a full-course lunch, you will experience the coast for the first time. The combination of diversity and sheer natural elegance will amaze you.

Your first day at the Lodge will end with a full-course meals and a cozy fireplace. Relax, recharge and get a good rest because you have 5 amazing days to go!

In the coming days, your breakfasts will be served at 8.00am and the tour of the day will typically depart the Lodge at 9.30am. Depending on both weather and group interest, you can enjoy different kinds of activities: Marine Tours, Trekking/Walking Tours, Coast by Tundra Tracker, Whale Swim and exploration by Zodiac, Wildlife Photography, Ocean Paddles, Aurora Watching, Bird Watching and Photo Presentations & Lectures.
