At Leisure in Banff

Departing Banff in the morning your first sightseeing stop will be at world famous Lake Louise. Walk to the lakeshore, see the turquoise water, and take in the sights that drew early mountaineers here to pursue their climbing dreams. The remainder of your day will be filled with the Canadian Rocky Mountains, short stops and stunning views. Roger’s Pass, the highest point of the highway, and one of the biggest challenges for the Canadian Pacific Railway during their construction era is part of the route. Just after the pass you will make a lunch stop (included) in the town of Revelstoke, founded in 1880, as the CP Railroad forced its way through the mountains. After lunch we follow the railway line making stops at unique places along the way before arriving at our destination in downtown Kamloops, the historic, train-era, Plaza Hotel. Here you will have free time explore the quaint downtown scene and choose your dinner (not included) amongst the many restaurants nearby.

Departing Kamloops after breakfast (included) you will follow the Coquihalla Highway, which winds its way into the Cascade. The landscape changes dramatically as we climb from the Canadian desert area of Kamloops into the sub alpine region of Coquihalla Pass and the imposing Cascade Mountains. After the pass we descend quickly into the Fraser River Valley where things become very green. En route we make a stop in Hope for a short rest and views of the spectacular mountains around us. Movie fans may recognize Hope as the setting for the classic adventure movie “First Blood”. Dropping altitude quickly the scenery changes from sub alpine to the lush Fraser River delta with the Coastal Mountains watching us from a distance. The journey finishes mid afternoon when we arrive in the bustling core of downtown Vancouver.

The morning is at leisure. Around noon, transfer to the cruise ship terminal in a motor coach, and board Celebrity Infinity for your 7 night Alaska Cruise.

You'll sail beyond the Inside Passage into the more protected Alaska Inside Passage, a complex labyrinth of fjords and bays where whales and sea lions find refuge during the summer months.

Go whale watching, learn Tinglit tribal customs, buy arts-and-crafts gifts, or fly high above Port Frederick on a 1.6km long zip-rider. Later, tuck into the best ever halibut and chips on the cookhouse deck of historic Hoonah Packing Company cannery.

Hubbard Glacier is the largest calving glacier on the North American continent. The glacier routinely calves off icebergs as high as 10-story buildings, sending massive blocks of ice into the sea every few minutes.

Some sightseeing is best from above. View the majestic Mendenhall Glacier from the East Glacier Loop Trail, or sail 1,800ft aloft via gondola to Mount Roberts. The fresh air’s sure to whet your appetite so try out the local treat - crisp crab cakes

Experience Eden firsthand. Kayak tranquil saltwater fjords fringed by ancient forests, keeping an eye out for black bear and playful porpoise. Tour the great outdoors by foot or bike, or whiz above ocean shores and never-ending forests by zipline.
