Throw yourself into Canada! Enjoy a gastronomic, scenic and utterly fantastic experience like no other. Eat and drink your way through Canada’s third-largest metropolitan centre, Vancouver, before boarding the award-winning Rocky Mountaineer; a train journey like no other! Over this 2-day rail experience you’ll be taken from Vancouver to Kamloops and then on to Jasper, where you can relax and pass the time while you glide through some of the west coast’s most spectacular scenery.
Upon arrival into Vancouver transfer (own cost) to your hotel. The day is yours to discover the coastal city of Vancouver. Canada’s third-largest metropolitan centre, Vancouver is a busy port city with a multi-cultural ambience. The spectacular setting invites you outdoors; explore the restaurants, shopping, galleries and museums, nightlife, entertainment and more. Be sure to visit the world-famous Granville Island Public Market to sample local meats cheeses, artisan pastries and chocolates, and fresh produce
Eat and drink your way through Vancouver’s #1 foodie district, just like the locals love to do! Indulge in the boozy, foodie, historic neighbourhood with Canadian poutine, Vancouver’s best pizza, wicked desserts, cocktails, craft beer, wine and more! Gastown is Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhood, laden with iconic restaurants, quirky pubs, and historic spaces. To uncover the alleyways and doors that hold Gastown’s gems, a Foodie Tour can’t be beat!
Just minutes from downtown Vancouver board the Rocky Mountaineer train. Pass through the rich fields of the Fraser River Valley and the towering peaks of the Coastal Mountains before entering the Fraser Canyon. Follow the Thompson River through spectacular landscapes to historic Kamloops. (Breakfast & lunch included)
Back on board the Rocky Mountaineer follow the Thompson River through rolling plateaus to the snowy peaks of the Monashee Mountains. View Pyramid Falls and the expansive glaciers of the Albreda Icefields. Pass by Mount Robson, which at 3954 metres is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Upon arrival into Jasper, collect your rental vehicle (not included) and proceed to your selected hotel. (Breakfast & lunch included)
Explore this charming mountain village close to many terrific scenic highlights. Take a tram ride up Whistlers Mountain, or visit Maligne Lake, one of the most photographed lakes in the world, and enjoy a 90-minute cruise heading toward the south end of this postcard setting (Maligne Lake cruise not included). You will marvel at the magnificent shoreline with dense forest and glacial peaks rising abruptly from the water’s edge. Stopping at Spirit Island, you will have the opportunity to take your own version of the world-famous photograph of the lake. This afternoon, take a short guided 1.5km walk over 3 hours where you will be visiting four restaurants and tasting four carefully handpicked dishes, each paired with an alcoholic beverage. Along the way, you will learn about Jasper’s history and take in some of the town’s best tales.
Your scenic drive along the Icefields Parkway today takes you through the spine of the Canadian Rockies. View a never-ending procession of mammoth mountains, jagged peaks, over 100 glaciers and pristine emerald-coloured lakes. Along the way see such sights as the Columbia Icefield where you will take an Ice Explorer ride out onto the glacier (included) and stop at the award-winning Glacier Skywalk. Also watch for the Sarbach Glacier, Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, with the Bow Glacier providing the backdrop, and Crowfoot Glacier before your arrival into Lake Louise. From Lake Louise, choose the Bow Valley Parkway, beside the Bow River, with an option for you to take a stop at Johnston Canyon and walk along the paved footpath to either the lower or upper waterfalls before continuing to Banff.

Spend the morning exploring Banff at your leisure. In town you’ll find lots of excitement including shopping, cafés, nightlife and museums. Check out the Cave and Basin National Historic Site (not included), Banff Gondola (included) where you will see a panoramic view of the Bow Valley, and then take a dip in the hot mineral pools at the Upper Hot Springs (included).
Depart the Rocky Mountains at your own leisure to the Great Central Plains that roll to the east for 2000 kilometres and extend as far south as Mexico. This is ‘cattle ranching country’ and the breadbasket of Canada.
This morning, you will join one of the two following food tours, depending on the date of travel:
Inglewood Edibles (Thurs & Fri) Engage in the story of Calgary’s Mavericks - our indigenous people,
pioneer settlers and today’s leading-edge culinary innovators - as you dine at some of the city’s best restaurants and explore Inglewood’s speciality shops. This event includes a sit down two-course lunch, knife skills and spice demos and four other tastings that reveal Alberta’s signature foods.
Savour 17th Ave Tour (Sat & Sun) Hip, trendy and pulsing with life, 17 Ave SW is one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the city. Your food and beverages at 6 internationally themed food businesses are taken care of. All you have to do is meet up
with our storytelling guide and relax and enjoy connecting with all that’s cool.
The remainder of your day is at leisure. Your tour concludes with the return of your rental vehicle in Calgary.
