Halifax, Nova Scotia to Toronto, Ontario by Motorhome

Begin your exploration of the east coast of Canada in the province of Nova Scotia.  Whales, national parks, winding roads, a UNESCO site – just a taste of what it has to offer.  Check out the highest tides in the world on your way to New Brunswick.  Check out the old part of Quebec City and experience all the different tastes of Montreal.  Finish up your visit around Niagara Falls and the vineyards of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Day 1 - Fly UK to Halifax

Upon arrival into Halifax Airport, make your way independently to you overnight hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 2 - Halifax to Lunenburg

This morning you will collect your Motorhome then take a gentle drive along the south shore with its amazing ocean views, visit the charming coastal communities of Peggy’s’ cove, Chester & Mahone Bay before arriving in the town of Lunenburg a UNESCO world heritage site.

Day 3 - Lunenburg to Kejimkujik National Park

Before leaving Lunenburg make sure you check out or take a cruise on the Bluenose schooner or maybe checkout the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic before continuing along the south shore then heading inland to Kejimkujik National Park. 

Day 4 - Kejimkujik National Park

Spend today enjoy everything the national park has to offer from canoeing to hiking to cycling, it also has an abundance of wildlife.

Day 5 - Kejimkujik National Park to Digby

Your journey continues as you head to Digby Neck for the opportunity to see the whales of the Bay of Fundy.  In summer the bay provides feeding and mating grounds for the Humpback, Finback, Minke & Right Whales.

Day 6 & 7 - Digby to Saint John. New Brunswick

This morning take the Bay Ferry over to neighbouring province of New Brunswick & the city of Saint John Canada’s oldest incorporated city and the only city along the Bay of Fundy.  Make sure to check out the reversing Rapids Skywalk and the New Brunswick Museum – the Hall of Great Whales is a wonderful exhibit.

Day 8 - Saint John to Edmundston, New Brunswick

Early morning departure from Saint John heading north on highway 7 to Fredericton sitting peacefully on the riverfront.  As New Brunswick’s capital city, Fredericton offers countless activities no matter what the season.  Continue north on highway 2 W to Edmundston a perfect place to spend a night along your way.

Day 9 - Edmundston to Riviere-du-Loup

Today take the short drive to Riviere-du-Loup a small city on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec. Rich in architectural heritage dating back to the 19th century. A perfect place to stop to go bird watching or hiking or visit a lighthouse. You can also enjoy a whale-watching excursion departing locally.

Day 10 to 11 - Riviere-du-Loup to Quebec City

You have two days to explore and take in the atmosphere and French history in this beautiful city. We suggest you leave your motorhome at your campsite and take public transport downtown and to the Old City. Many of this city's attractions are east of Old Quebec. This area has a distinct European feel unique in North America with its stone buildings and winding streets lined with shops and restaurants.

Near the Château Frontenac is Notre-Dame de Québec Cathedral, mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Quebec. It is the first church in the New World to be made a basilica and is the primatial church of Canada. The Terrasse Dufferin leads toward the nearby Plains of Abraham, site of the battle in which the British took Quebec from France, and the Citadel of Quebec, a Canadian Forces installation and the federal vice-regal secondary residence. The National Assembly, Quebec's provincial legislature, is also near the Citadelle.

Day 12 to 13 - Quebec City to Montreal

Leave beautiful Quebec City behind and head south towards Montreal with a stop in Trois-Rivieres, so names because of its location at the three-pronged mouth of the Saint-Maurice River. The city's main street is composed of century-old buildings housing a great variety of cafes, restaurants, clubs, bars and shops. Notable landmarks include the Forges du Saint-Maurice, a foundry dating back to the 1730s, the Ursulines Monastery, and the Basilica of Notre-Dame-du-Cap. Continue on the short drive to Montreal where we recommend a campground out of town and take public transport downtown to check out some of Montreal’s tourist attractions.

Day 14 to 15 Montreal to 1000 islands/Kingston

Travel south along the Rideau Heritage Route on your way to Kingston stopping off at charming town and historic locks on your way to the 1000 islands a haven for boating, scuba diving, sailing, kayaking and more.  Explore the exquisite beauty of the 1000 islands on a cruise and sail past tree-clad isles, palatial waterfront homes and quaint island cottages.  The historic city of Kingston isn’t far away.

Day 16 to 17 - 1000 Islands to Niagara on the Lake

Today you will head still south along Route 401 and hugging Lake Ontario on your way to beautiful Niagara on the Lake.  Sitting on the shores of Lake Ontario at the mouth of the Niagara River, it is known for its wineries, its flower filled tree lined old town features, 19th century quaint colonial style buildings.  Stroll back through history and enjoy world class theatre, fine dining, and shopping & farmers markets.  Take some time to go and check out Niagara Falls which is close by and should not be missed.

Day 18 - Niagara on the Lake to Toronto Airport

Today your road trip comes to an end when you return your vehicle to the motorhome depot and board your flight back to the UK
