Some of Canada’s most glorious landscapes and fascinating experiences can be found in the neighbouring provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. Many travellers begin their journey in Vancouver, Western Canada's largest city, and it is a wonderful place in which to get a first taste of Canada. This vibrant harbour city is a mixture of old and new, with a majestic mountain backdrop and attractive parks and gardens.
Take a trip to Vancouver Island to view impressive beaches, try whale-watching and to visit the colonial jewel that is the provincial capital, Victoria, a town with stop and stare good looks.
Alberta, meanwhile, is all about the wilderness – a magical mix of glacial lakes, roaring waterfalls, vast forests and snow-capped mountains. Mountain towns such as Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff make ideal bases from which to tour the local countryside and take part in outdoor activities such as fishing, wildlife – watching, hiking, rafting and horse riding.
And of course, there’s Calgary, best known as home to the world famous Calgary Stampede, but also where you’ll find great shopping, dining, nightlife and sports.
