Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure with a trip to Canada & Alaska that promises to take your breath away. From the grizzly bears of Knight Inlet to the stunning glaciers and picturesque ports of call, this trip is packed with excitement and wonder.

Your journey begins in the beautiful coastal city of Vancouver, hugged by white snow-capped mountain peaks and surrounded by the peaceful waters of the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver is a universally agreed "must-see" destination. A trip to this coastal city will allow you to experience the best of both worlds; a modern city with its finger on the pulse in the midst of some of nature's most spectacular scenery.

Following your pre-cruise stay you will then embark on your luxury Alaska cruise sailing on board Celebrity Solstice. The cruise will take you through the Inside Passage, where you can admire the stunning scenery and wildlife, including whales, sea lions, and eagles. You'll also have the opportunity to visit the charming ports of call in Alaska, including Icy Strait Point, Skagway, Endicott Arm, Dawes Glacier, Juneau and Ketchikan. Each port has its unique charm, from the gold rush history of Skagway to the stunning glaciers of Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier.

On the morning that your cruise ship arrives back in Vancouver you will transfer to Vancouver Airport and fly to Campbell River on beautiful Vancouver Island. You will then embark on a 3-day, 2-night Knight Inlet Package that includes an unforgettable grizzly bear viewing experience.

This package includes a return transfer from Campbell River Airport to the hotel and seaplane terminal, one night's accommodation in Campbell River and one night's accommodation at Knight Inlet Lodge. You'll also enjoy all meals and snacks while at the lodge, bear-viewing excursions, a scenic boat ride of Knight Inlet, a kayak tour of Glendale Cove, and interpreters. Rain gear is also provided if required, but dinner in the Campbell River portion of your package and alcoholic beverages except for wine with dinner are not included.

Knight Inlet Lodge is located on a 100 km long fjord carved by glaciers in the coastal mountains. This pristine wilderness is the native habitat of the Grizzly Bear. Every spring when the bears come out of hibernation, they can be seen from a boat on the banks of Glendale Cove eating sedge grasses, mussels and barnacles that abound in the cove.

In the fall the bears feed heavily on the returning Salmon to the Glendale River and can be seen in large numbers from the specially constructed viewing platform. Situated 60 kilometres from the mouth of the inlet is Knight Inlet Lodge. The floating lodge is tucked into Glendale Cove, which offers one of the few protected anchorages in the inlet, and it is here that you will begin each day’s adventure.

Sophie's top tip

Sophie's top tip for this trip is to bring a good camera and plenty of memory cards. The scenery in Knight Inlet is absolutely breath-taking, and you'll want to capture as many photos as possible of the stunning landscapes and wildlife. Additionally, the Celebrity Solstice offers many photo opportunities, from the elegant dining rooms and lounges to the stunning views from the ship's deck. Make sure to bring a camera that can handle low light conditions and fast-moving subjects, such as wildlife and action shots.
